Volcano USA was founded in 2007 to create a theatre of international, experimental fusion in Philadelphia.

We believe it is imperative for artists to encounter other cultures so that we may always be surprised by new experiences. Crossing borders – both artistic and geographic – is a part of the process we undertake to articulate situations and characters we may never personally encounter, to explore situations that will stretch our outlooks, and inspire new possibilities within us. We feed our imaginations and broaden our minds by confronting new audiences, new forms, new collaborations. In this way, we learn.

Volcano USA will partner with artists and theatres at home and abroad (including our sister company in Toronto) to stimulate exactly this kind of learning.
